I participated in the first virtual writer’s room project conducted by my professor and mentor Timo Lehti, screenwriter Miira Karhula and TAMK UAS professor and lecturer Teppo Nuutinen in collaboration with YLE Drama. The main interests of the course was to explore how working through digital communication services affected the screenwriting process. The course also explored possibilities virtual realities bring to the professional field of screenwriting.
In the project a selection of students from Metropolia and TAMK participated in designing a short web serie concept targeting young audiences. We worked together through digital communication applications such as Zoom.us and WhatsApp. We got feedback during the process from our lecturers and the drama team at YLE.
Since then the writer’s room project has been open for writers from different backgrounds annually.
